Alarms & Warnings 1.1

Alarms & Warning version 1.1 is a project I am very excited about. taking from the design of version 1, i have re-imagined the piece and focused more on the narrative aspects of the piece. shown in these three images the piece is placed in the Mason Gross hallway on display. this version considers the 3-D aspect of the piece to another level. you can now look "outside" the window as well as "in." Everything is now printed on both sides and are cut out even more seamlessly. some new features have also been added including a second tooth and a large bong. expect a narrative video coming soon!
(special thanks to Ro for all her help in constructing this piece)

Annoying Laughter is the second piece in my 3-D series. Again this piece is completely considers the 3-D aspect and is viewable on all sides. inside the room you will notice a 3-D lamp, a beautiful room layout, and again wooden molding and even a white straw pipe that runs along the ceiling of the room. this narrative takes place at night which is why i built the partial ceiling and roof. it functions to shield off the light when photographing. the "dark room view" is probably the most appropriate for the narrative vision for this piece.

"3-D Dreamscapes"

Alarms & Warnings is a 3-D Collage of a dream I once had. Please note the beautiful interior space of bright and vibrant colors. Yellow ocre and brilliant red were chosen for the walls because of their bold presence in this 8" x 7" x 8" model Also note the hard wood floors and wooden molding which act as both a garnish and structural element. There is a flashing light which directly illuminates a pile of currency. there is also an alarm sounding in the "narrative" video which hopefully will explain some questions and also challenge you to ask more. If you watch the "full view" video you will also see that every aspect of the dreamscape is considered as even the outside of the room is covered in siding and a window which continues into the inside of the collage. Hope you enjoy the work.

A Fresh Start

I'm inspired. Finally i have something to work for again. The truth is I have not been truly inspired since maybe high school or freshmen year of college. A good friend told me that everything starts at home. Growing up, learning to be a man, learning to think for yourself, it all starts at home. I have decided to take this philosophy into my art. It all starts with me, so I must do the best I can in every way i can. I must be patient, i must be hard working, and I must not call anything finished until I am completely happy with it. I have also learned that only so many things can be learned at a time. So let me start at the bottom, i promise to be humble and observant, diligent and more hard working than ever. Before i can make a statement, i must learn the language. Square one.

I have not forgotten about you my precious online journal. but i fear that i have not come up with anything spectacular as of yet. i am striving for nothing less than perfection. everything must be done with will all my skill and focus and i swear i do not care what my teachers say that photo realism is not important and that art is all about the message. to me it is also about the technique. if my projects are late then let them be late, but i swear they will only be complete when i am 100% satisfied.

Calling All Artists Project

Traditional:

Breadth:

"Calling All Artists"
Calling All Artists is a Facebook group of friends and fellow artists who have shared their work with and me and one another. This project was initially done for networking purposes but it has also shown me the passion and creativity of other artists. Above are examples of the more traditional fine art and the breadth of art this group has contributed. i am still fully dedicated to this project and i feel it is a better and more personal experience than deviant art so i hope it continues to grow.

Three Women

"Three Women"
Oil on canvas,
September 2008 - November 2008
"Three Women" was inspired by my interest in shape & color. As i continued painting, i also became interested in the portrayal of space and the naturalism of the conveyed shapes
"Three Women" was my last truly artistic venture in my personal opinion. since then i've strayed off course and i've painted what i believed others wanted me to paint. This upcoming semester will be spent correcting those mistakes.
